Paprika ATX: Reviews & Ratings
This restaurant is one of the best taco spots in Austin! You order at the counter, and the cashier was super nice. The restaurant has plenty of seating, and there was street parking nearby. I loved the brisket taco! The tortilla had a nice, slightly crispy texture. The meat was extremely flavorful, and I loved it with the cheese. I also liked that there was a little bar with all the sauces. The green sauce was super good and not too spicy.
This is not a resounding 5 star, but it's a solid 5 star. Hear me out. These are good tacos that could be great. When a restaurant has the guts to showcase a tiny menu and is this good it deserves a proper critique to get to the next level. The tacos are inconsistent. Some parts are the best bite of taco ever, and some are honestly a little dry. The dry parts pop up often enough that you'll probably want salsa. Not because the salsa is good (it's fine) but because you'll want moisture. A taco shouldn't NEED salsa. I also wish they could get orders out faster given their popularity. They're suffering at the point of sales, and an hour wait is probably not worth it. They're also very expensive tacos for what they are. A $4 taco would be rough but fine but $5 is not cool. So to be clear, these are good tacos. Austin needs more like them, but there is room for improvement. I'm happy to return. Go on a weekday I you can, and park on the street behind the building.
Heard great reviews online about this place so had to check it out. I will say these are THE BEST tacos I’ve had in Austin. I got the bistec torta which was very good, the taste of the steak was very flavorful and a well put together torta in general. I also got the chicken tinga and suadero tacos, which I highly recommend. The tinga was the most flavorful chicken taco I’ve ever had and the suadero was really good as well. If you’re between which beef taco to get (suadero or bistec) I’d personally choose the suadero. My gf got a suadero, bistec and carnitas tacos. The carnitas was probably our least favorite of them all but still not bad. **These aren’t street taco size, street tacos are usually on 3” tortillas and they use 5” tortillas** We came very late in their hours (Austin traffic and they close at 6 pm) but the staff was very understanding and welcoming; everyone that worked there was so nice. They also informed us they have extended hours at a food truck at a nearby neighborhood bar (if I can find it I’ll come back to update my review). The price: I want to say it’s more on the expensive side but unfortunately it’s just pretty on par with taco prices in Austin- BUT I will say the quality and flavor are there so these are actually worth it. It was pretty dark when we arrived but it looked like limited parking.
Excellent tacos and Aguas Frescas. I got a Al pastor, which is only available sometimes and until sold out, and a champiñones tacos and they were both excellent. I like the verde sauce better than the red, which is pretty spicy.
Had a quick lunch today at Paprika. The tacos were so flavorful. They were seasoned perfectly! I had heard so many good things about this place! They were alll true! I had tacos de carnitas and tacos with brisket!
Amazing tacos!! Definitely up there in my Austin power rankings. I got the suadero quesitaco and the nopales. Recommend both highly! Service was quick and friendly. Salsas were good with a decent kick.
Paprika is phenomenal! Absolutely mouthwatering tacos. Located on North Lamar, Paprika serves authentic tacos that will absolutely hit your soul. They serve five flavors on any given day, and have Al Pastor on Saturdays. The service here is very friendly, you are greeted as you enter and leave the establishment. Very cozy and welcoming environment. I ordered a total of six tacos (3x Suadero, 1x Suadero Quesi-Taco, 1x Carnitas, and 1x Campechano Taco). They were all absolutely mouthwatering tacos-watering and delicious. The hot sauce here packs a punch, I was definitely sweating after a few bites! Highly recommend this spot for my fellow taco-enthusiasts!
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. First time trying Paprikas today and I cannot wait to go back. These are 100% the BEST tacos I have ever had in my life. The person taking orders was so nice as well. Highly recommend this place.
